A full sailing is thirty-two guests, across twelve quiet rooms.

A dahabiya sails. Two lateen sails and the current do the work, and the river is the only thing you hear between the moorings.

    05 — The guide

    Dahabiya Nile cruise

A dahabiya Nile cruise travels the river the traditional way: a sailing boat, a handful of guests, and the Nile between Luxor and Aswan at an unhurried pace. Hathor carries 32 guests in twelve cabins and suites, so she moors at quiet banks the floating hotels sail past.

    Questions before you sail

What is a dahabiya Nile cruise?

A dahabiya is a traditional Egyptian sailing boat. Because a dahabiya travels under sail rather than engine and carries very few guests, it moors at quieter anchorages than a large Nile cruiser can reach, and the days follow the river rather than a timetable.

    The complete guide
How much does a dahabiya Nile cruise on Hathor cost?

Cabins start from $3,000 for three nights from Aswan to Luxor, $4,000 for four nights from Luxor to Aswan and $7,000 for the seven-night round trip. Prices are per cabin for the whole voyage, with taxes and service charges included; suites and Royal Suites are priced above the cabins.

    Sailing dates and prices
What is included in the price?

Fine dining and selected beverages, guided temple visits and shore days, and attentive service from embarkation to farewell. Taxes and service charges are included in the cabin price.

    What is included, in full
Where does Hathor sail, and for how long?

Between Luxor and Aswan, mooring at Esna, Edfu and Kom Ombo. Choose three nights from Aswan to Luxor, departing on Wednesdays; four nights from Luxor to Aswan, departing on Saturdays; or the seven-night round trip from Luxor, departing on Saturdays.

    All voyages
How many guests does Hathor carry?

32 guests. Hathor is arranged across three decks with eight cabins of 22 sqm, two suites of 46 sqm and two Royal Suites of 56 sqm.

    The cabins and suites
How is a dahabiya different from a Nile cruise ship?

A Nile cruise ship usually carries a hundred guests or more; Hathor carries 32. A dahabiya draws little more than a metre, so she ties up at banks with no dock at all and reaches moorings the big ships pass by.

    Nile cruise or dahabiya
Can we charter the whole dahabiya?

Yes. Private charter gives your group exclusive use of Hathor, with the itinerary, dining and shore days shaped around your party.

    Outstanding Experience

I recently sailed the Nile with Hathor Dahabiya and I was blown away from the first moment to the last. Everything about the trip was exceptional. The food shocked me. Multi-course meals, every detail thought through, and the culinary experience was far better than I expected, I expected it to be good, but not EXCEPTIONAL, I found myself taking pictures of almost every course. Hossam the boat manager was amazing and I was also grateful for Adam who stood ready with every drink or snack need I had. The whole crew was there whenever I needed anything, yet they still gave me space for my self to read and enjoy the cruise. The crowning jewel was my tour guide, Zidane. His knowledge of the temples, burial sites, and historical sites was outstanding. Even better, he knew when to teach and share but also when to step back so I could explore on my own and sit with the weight of the history of Egypt. I left feeling like I had gained a new friend in Zidane. Start to finish, this was an outstanding experience. I would recommend Hathor without hesitation and in fact already have recommended it to a couple friends.
